Welcome to the World of LibelleMoon
LibelleMoon offers many things which come from the mind of Helen who is a Yorkshire lass born and bred. Helen is a hand weaver, mostly doing Saori weaving and uses inspiration from nature and daydreaming. Saori weaving is also known as freeweaving and holds no limits. Helen’s parents use to call her “Dilly Daydream” as she always had her head in the clouds or a fantasy world. This is now what makes the beautiful creations that you find offered here in the enchanting world of LibelleMoon.
Helen is also an independent dyer of yarn, fibre and fabric creating beautiful colour ways unique to you. Inspiration from nature is usually the story behind these products and every one has a tale to tell. Fibre arts and country crafting, kitchen Witchery and working in tune with nature is what LibelleMoon is all about.
I have lived in the North of England my whole life but I travel often as I love to visit new places. I am a married mum of three amazing and beautiful children. I also now have a grandson who is the most delightful little chappy you could ever meet. My husband is not originally from these shores so I have even more amazing cultural diversity which really helps when creating the beautiful items I make. My husband is a beekeeper and makes amazing products all from those little buzzing bees and if your interested in his work then please visit Green Man Honey.
I spent most of my working life within the NHS caring for people from cradle to the grave and have many qualifications in health sciences and anatomy. Nursing Is still very much part of my life and I am interested in using integrative medicine to heal myself and others.
In my spare time I can be found doing medieval re-enactment or playing either the Recorder or the Harp and walking through ancient forests and being with nature.
The term Libelle Moon has a back story.. In 2002 my son Lennon died just before birth and my whole life in that moment changed in an instant. I kept seeing though Dragonflies everywhere and my parents found on there driveway after coming from the hospital a plastic Dragonfly. Libelle is the German word for Dragonfly which blends my culture and husbands together as a sign of my love for him and Lennon. Everything I create is with love and skill. I hope you will join me one day in my studio for one of my many workshops I host or enjoy the products I make.
I also am totally in love with Dachshunds and my two girls Demeter and Nephilim help out in the home studio.
I am a member of the Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, The Braid Society and The Heritage Crafts association.
For Lennon and Alec with love
